UNP Hosts Literary Salon for Unicameral Book

Join the University of Nebraska Press for a literary salon hosted by State Senator Chris Beutler and lobbyist Richard A. Lombardi. Charlyne Berens, UNL professor of journalism, will lead participants in a lively discussion of her new book, One House: The Unicameral’s Progressive Vision for Nebraska.

Thursday, November 3, 2005
10:30–11:30 a.m.
Nebraska State Capitol, Room 1126

One House examines the magnetic and driven personalities at work behind the unicameral’s creation and chronicles the lawmakers’ struggles to remain true to the populist, progressive vision of its founders and the people of Nebraska. Garnering a great deal of support and some criticism from the citizens of Nebraska, the one-house legislature remains a unique experiment in American democracy as well as a powerful symbol of Nebraskans’ identity.
