For a myriad of reasons–none of them serious–links have moved to Friday, but just for this week!
Now, on to the links!
The weather changes for the better–or for the warmer–and as the days get longer and lazier, how should one spend one’s time? Reading a book, of course (leave it to someone who works at a press to suggest that)! What’s better than reading a book on a 80+ degree (Fahrenheit) day, sipping lemonade with ice cubes clinking musically on the glass as you raise it to your lips? Why, reading a book en masse, that’s what! So, for your clicking pleasure, I offer you some bookclubish blogs.
First up, The Supercoolest Bookclub Ever! blog. You don’t have to join by signing up, but you can always comment on the books being discussed. Now, the book is Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl.
The G.R.I.T.S. is an acronym for Guys/Girls Raised In The South, as the blog’s "About Us" page states. They read contemporary African-American literature and are now reading Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man (one of my favorite books), because it’s their "Old School" reading month.
There’s a blog called Tilting at Windmills, created solely for reading Cervantes’ Don Quixote (were you expecting something else?) and folks who want to tackle the tome along with other adventurous souls.
One of the most famous bookclubish blogs is the Litblog Co-op, a cooperative of "leading literary weblogs" on contemporary authors, presses, and books. Don’t be intimidated; they accept comments on their discussions.
Garden Bloggers Book Club is now reading Passalong Plants by Steve Bender and Felder Rushing. This is a wonderful blog for this season.
Ship of Fools encourages comments and submissions. They are now reading On Beauty by Zadie Smith and will be reading Eireann Lorsung’s Music for Landing Planes.
Happy summer reading and have a great weekend!

If anyone is interesting in reading Because a Fire Was in My Head By Lynn Stegner (read an excerpt of the book), please email me and we can discuss starting a discussion on the UNP blog.
