Author Events September 13 thru September 19

As mentioned on an earlier post, many UNP authors will be in attendance at the (downtown) Omaha Lit Fest.  The festival will be held this weekend—September 14 and September 15—at the W. Dale Clark branch of the Omaha Public Library, Film Streams (which is located at 1340 Webster St.), and
The Joslyn Art Museum (which is located at
2200 Dodge St.), all in Omaha, NE.  Here is a list of the UNP authors who will be there:

Jonis Agee, author of Sweet Eyes
Gerald Shapiro, author of Bad Jews
Ladette Randolph, co-editor of The Big Empty and editor of A Different Plain
John Price, author of Not Just Any Land
Kellie Wells, author of Skin
Aaron Raz Link, co-author of What Becomes You
and Hilda Raz, co-author of What Becomes You, editor of literary quarterly The Prairie Schooner, and editor of many Prairie Schooner anthologies. 

Many authors will also be attending Montana Festival of the Book this year.  The festival takes place September 13 through the 15in Missoula.  Events will take place at the Wilma Theater, Missoula Public Library, Missoula Art Museum, and various other venues.  Here is the list of UNP authors that will be in Missoula this weekend:

Lynn Stegner, author of Because a Fire Was in My Head
Dan Aadland, author of The Best of All Seasons
John Clayton, author of The Cowboy Girl
Michael Downs, author of House of Good Hope

In other events, author Dinah Lenney who wrote the memoir Bigger than Life, will be speaking to Southwestern Manuscripters on Saturday, September 15 at 7:00 PM.  Poet Kathleen Flenniken will read at the Northwind Reading Series on September 13, 2007 at 7:00 PM.  Kathleen wrote the collection Famous, which won a Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Poetry. Out of Joint author Mary Felstiner will be the keynote speaker at ARTHRITIS EXPO 2007 in San Francisco.  She will be speaking at 10:00 until 3:00pm on September 15, 2007.  Laurie Powers, editor of Pulp Writer, will be at the Santa Fe Main Library, 145 Washington Avenue, on September 13, 2007 at 7:00 PM.

Peggy Shumaker (Just Breath Normally) and
Jennifer Brice (Unlearning to Fly) have a lot of events set up together this coming week.  They have a
Barnstorming Alaska Tour and will be visiting towns of Sitka at The Island Institute; Anchorage at
Title Wave Bookstore; a talk on craft at
University of Alaska Anchorage; Fairbanks at the
University of Alaska Museum of the North; and Homer Kachemak Bay Campus, Kenai Peninsula College.  Peggy Shumaker will also be at
Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association Conference on September 19, 2007.  The conferece is in Bellevue, Washington.  She will give a book talk.
