Mere weeks to Halloween and what should a body do?  Plan on costumes?  Decorate the porch?  How about getting ideas for costumes from historical figures, like Caroline Lockhart or Captain Georg von Trapp?  Well, maybe our authors can give you ideas.

The One Book One Nebraska selection this year— Crazy Horse— exhibit will open at the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center on October 24th in Kearney, NE.

Joanne Wilke, author of Eight Women, Two Model Ts, and the American West, will make an appearance at the High Plains BookFest on October 20th in Billings, MT.  At 3:00PM, she’ll be on the panel "A Women’s West" with Joyce Litz, Teresa Neal, PhD, Jeffe Kennedy.  John Clayton will be there, too, on October 19th presenting, reading and signing copies of The Cowboy Girl.

From the Garden Club‘s author Charlotte Hogg will be reading and signing books at the the John H. Ames Reading Series in the Jane Pope Geske Heritage Room of Nebraska Authors on October 18.

Robert Root (Landscapes with Figures) will be at the Author Fest in Manitou Springs, CO for a reading and workshop on October 20th.

David Starkey will be in the blue state of California talking about Living Blue in the Red States on October 18th.  He’ll be at the Santa Barbara’s Barnes and Noble.

Christopher R. Browning (The Origins of the Final Solution) will make a guest appearance with survivor and author Nechama Tec during the Holocaust Remembrance and Education project in Cedar Falls, IA on October 18.

Joel Denker, author of The World on a Plate, will be at Candida’s World of Books on October 18 for an appearance in Washington, DC.

Elizabeth M. Campbell, granddaughter of Austrian U-boat Captain Georg von Trapp will be at the Women’s Club in Arlington, MA, reading and signing copies of her grandfather’s memoir To the Last Salute.
