Ok readers, Christmas is finally here! We can all look forward to a week full of food, presents, time off of work, no school, and lots of snow (especially you’re living in Nebraska). We’ve been enjoying a week full of below zero temperatures, but I think I can safely say that the Christmas spirit has not been dampened. After all, the weather will make for the perfect excuse to stay indoors and curl up with a University of Nebraska Press book. They also make great gifts! If you’re unsure what to get, I’ve got a week’s worth of suggestions for you. Get ready reader!
December 22: Japan’s winter solstice called Toji.
Wally Yonamine: The Man who Changed Japanese Baseball by Robert K. Fitts is a great gift for that sports lover in your life (even if it’s you….)
December 23: Night of the Radishes in Oaxaca, Mexico.
If radishes aren’t your thing, don’t worry because perhaps artichokes are? Check out Our Lady of the Artichokes and other Portuguese-American Stories by Katherine Vaz for what I’m sure we can all agree is the far superior vegetable.
December 24: Christmas Eve
If you’re a world traveler then you may enjoy Christmas in Scandinavia by Sven H. Rossel. It features writers from Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
December 25: Christmas Day
A Christmas classic. The Christmas of the Phonograph Records: A Recollection by Mari Sandoz. This will be the perfect addition to any Midwest Christmas, after all Sandoz is one of our strongest literary voices.
December 26: The first day of Kwanza
Onitsha by J.M. G. Le Clezio gives a striking portrayal of Africa, where this Pan-African holiday represents. For a step out of the traditional holiday season, perhaps this is the way to go!

Well readers, I hope we has sufficiently provided for you this holiday. Remember you can find all these books, and more, at the UNP website. Also don’t forget to join us next week for another installment of Tuesday Trivia.
Wishing you and your loved ones a happy holiday!!!
