It’s been quite a week at the University of Nebraska Press, as all sorts of our authors are all over the Web this week. I’ll cut right to the chase:
A review of Taste of Cherry (winner of the Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Poetry), interview with author Kara Candito and original poem by Kara Candito are featured on The Rumpus, in what the Web site calls “a super-sized combo.” It’s a beautiful review of Candito’s vivid book of poems. And in the interview, Candito discusses what it’s like to read aloud from the racier passages of her book, among other topics.
Nancy Lord’s Rock, Water, Wild is the new book club pick on 49 Writers, an online community for Alaska writers and readers. An online discussion is planned for March 1 and 2.
Double-Edged Sword: The Many Lives of Hemingway’s Friend, the American Matador Sidney Franklin, was reviewed in PW online. A choice line: Paul presents an absorbing biography of a 20th century original, a confidante, lover, narcissist, and bravura performer whose capacity for suffering captured one of America’s greatest literary minds.
Milton Jamail was quoted on MLB.com, in an article about the 2010 Caribbean Series, and his book, Venezuelan Bust, Baseball Boom was referenced in the article.
All of which should provide loyal UNP fans with plenty of reading material this dreary Thursday. Enjoy!
