Local reading is about to be celebrated again in the capital city! After a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Nebraska Book Festival is back in Lincoln taking place on Saturday, June 10 at the Lincoln Foundation Garden and Lincoln City Library Bennett Martin Branch (1415 N Street).

SATURDAY, JUNE 10TH
Noon-12:45 p.m. – Carla Ketner will be hosting an author and illustrator event for elementary children about her soon-to-be-released book, Ted Kooser: More Than a Local Wonder, about the former U.S. Poet Laureate.
Noon – 12:45 p.m. – “Pull Back the Curtain” on title selection for One Book One Nebraska and One Book One Lincoln. The 2023 One Book One Nebraska pick was The Mystery of Hunting’s End by Mignon G. Eberhart. Grab your limited-time Bison edition of this classic work before it’s too late!
1:00 – 1:45 p.m. – Prairie Trout Writing Group Panel, moderated by Pat Leach — The Prairie Trout writing group includes award-winning authors Pam Barger, Twyla Hansen (Rock Tree Bird, The Backwaters Press, 2017), Mary Pipher, Marge Saiser (The Track the Whale Makes, Nebraska 2021; The Woman in the Moon; The Backwaters Press, 2018; I Have Nothing to Say About Fire, The Backwaters Press, 2016), and Karen Shoemaker. For this event, they will read individually from their works and address questions about the impact of the group and the evolution of their work together.
2:00-2:50 p.m. – Author Panel, interviewed by Pat Leach, with Nebraska Authors Joy Castro (How Winter Began, Nebraska 2015; The Truth Book, Nebraska 2012; Island of Bones, Nebraska 2012), Dana Fritz (Field Guide to a Hybrid Landscape, Nebraska 2022) and John Mabry (Nebraska Volleyball: The Origin Story, November 2023).
3:00-4:00 p.m. – Nebraska State Poet Matt Mason (Things We Don’t Know We Don’t Know, The Backwaters Press, 2006) will be hosting a Slam Poetry Showcase featuring Greg Harries, Trac Schacht, Bianca Swift, and Noni Williams.
