Zero Street is committed to LGBTQ+ literary fiction of all kinds, from stories of modern life to innovations on traditions of genre. The series editors are Timothy Schaffert, bestselling author of The Perfume Thief, and SJ Sindu, author of Blue-Skinned Gods.
Forget I Told You This is the story of a queer single mother and aspiring artist who finds herself in the thick of a plot to overthrow Big Data.
I Make Envy on Your Disco is the story of a thirty-seven-year-old art advisor who, fed up with his life in New York, flies to Berlin for a gallery opening and finds a once-divided city brimming with excitement and possibility, yet facing an identity crisis of its own.

Zero Street Fiction & the tradition of LGBTQ+ publishing
Join the editors and authors of Zero Street Fiction, the new LGBTQ+ literary series of the University of Nebraska Press, on November 2nd at 2 p.m. in the Nebraska Union: Platte River Room South to discuss the development of the project, its place in the history of LGBTQ+ publishing, its literary aesthetic, and the release of its first two titles: Forget I Told You This by Hilary Zaid, and I Make Envy on Your Disco by Eric Schnall. Panelists include Zaid, Schnall, and editors/authors SJ Sindu (Blue-Skinned Gods) and Timothy Schaffert (The Perfume Thief).
Zero Street Fiction Launch Party
Join Timothy Schaffert, SJ Sindu, and Hilary Zaid in celebrating the first release in the Zero Street Fiction series, Forget I Told You This by Hilary Zaid on November 2nd at 5 p.m. at Indigo Bridge Bookstore. Zaid will sign copies of the book, which is also the inaugural winner of the Barbara DiBernard Prize.

The Goth House Experiment Reading
Join UNL Creative Writing alum and Zero Street Fiction co-editor, SJ Sindu, on November 3rd at 5 p.m. in the University Bookstore at the Nebraska Union as she reads from her new collection of stories, The Goth House Experiment.
Throughout the week, Bennett Singer, David Deschamps, and Leigh Fondakowski will also be on campus as they sort through Louis Crompton’s archives in Love Library. They are developing a series based on Louis Crompton’s groundbreaking book, Homosexuality and Civilization. Learn more about how Crompton was the inspiration for Zero Street Fiction here!


Hilary Zaid is the author of the award-winning novel Paper is White. Her short works have appeared in Mother Jones, Ecotone, Day One, Southwest Review, and Utne Reader, and have been twice nominated for the Pushcart Prize.
Eric Schnall has worked on and off Broadway as a producer and marketing director for more than twenty-five years. He won a Tony Award for the Broadway revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and a Lucille Lortell Award for Fleabag. He has also written about techno and electronic music for Billboard and Revolution, profiling DJs and musicians from around the world.
