Upcoming: University Press Week 2023

Join the University of Nebraska Press in celebrating University Press Week 2023! Celebrated from November 13-17, this year’s theme is “Speak UP!” and the Association for University Presses encourages “presses and their supporters to shout to the rooftops about the value of the essential work of university presses: giving voice to the scholarship and ideas that shape conversations around the world.”

This year, the University of Nebraska Press is celebrating in a variety of different ways.

UP Week Event

We are excited to partner with local bookseller Francie & Finch on November 18 for a book signing with John Mabry, author of Nebraska Volleyball. Mabry will be joined by a few former Husker volleyball players to share exclusive stories about their time on the team. Learn more about the event here

Title in the “Speak UP!” Gallery

To commemorate the first publication in our Zero Street Fiction series, we submitted Hilary Zaid’s Forget I Told You This to be part of this year’s UP Week featured gallery, which represents the many areas in which university presses and their authors #Speak UP.

Forget I Told You This is the story of a queer single mother and aspiring artist who finds herself in the thick of a plot to overthrow Big Data. The series editors are Timothy Schaffert, bestselling author of The Perfume Thief and director of Creative Writing in UNL’s English department, and SJ Sindu, author of Blue-Skinned Gods. Peruse the 103 publications for this year’s gallery here

UP Week Blog Tour

We are also participating in the UP Week blog tour, where university presses will explore how they are embodying the #Speak UP theme with posts written by staff members, authors, booksellers, and other partners.
