UNP at N.COB: A Literary Festival

We are so proud to co-sponsor and attend Nebraska’s new literary festival: The 2024 Nebraska Celebration of Books (N.COB)!

This year, the festival takes place on Oct. 12, 2024, in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus Union. UNP authors are participating in the festival in several ways, find a list of their events below.

From 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., you can find us in the Exhibit Hall in Regency Suite B of the UNL Union. We’ll have plenty of intriguing books for your perusal!

Books, Banter, and Breakfast Bites

10:00 a.m. — Regency Suite A

Mary K. Stillwell, coeditor of Nebraska Presence (Backwaters Press, 2007), and James J. Kimble, author of Prairie Forge (Bison Books, 2014), will be in conversation with past One Book One Nebraska authors as they all share their experiences and thoughts on the One Book One Nebraska program.

Zero Street Fiction Panel

11:00 a.m. — Regency Suite A

DeMisty D. Bellinger, author of All Daughters Are Awesome Everywhere (Nebraska, 2024), joins Zero Street Fiction Series Editor and bestselling author of The Perfume Thief Timothy Schaffert for a discussion about the series. Zero Street is committed to LGBTQ+ literary fiction with commercial potential, providing marginalized authors opportunities for a wide readership in the trade fiction market.

Nebraska Book Award Author Roundtable

2:00 p.m. — Regency Suite A

Carla Ketner, author of Ted Kooser (Nebraska, 2023); Jacob K. Friefeld, coauthor of The First Migrants (Bison Books, 2023); Dana Fritz, author of Field Guide to a Hybrid Landscape (Bison Books, 2023); and Romeo Oriogun, author of The Gathering of Bastards (Nebraska, 2023) will join other authors who received a 2024 Nebraska Book Award to discuss their winning books and answer questions.
