Remembering Medgar Evers

Jackson, Mississippi is the story of the civil rights movement in Jackson, Mississippi, told by one of its foremost activists, John R. Salter Jr. The struggle for civil rights featured some of the bloodiest resistance by a panoply of repressive resources—“lawmen,” hoodlums, politicians, and vigilantes—but also introduced Salter to the movement’s most compelling and important figures, including NAACP field secretary Medgar Evers. Celebrating the Homestead Act

This year is the 150th Anniversary of the Homestead Act and the Homestead National Monument is right here in Nebraska! Visit the National Park Service site to see events celebrating this landmark in American History. And forthcoming this September is Nancy Plain's Light on the Prairie which features 62 of Solomon D.
