Our books and journals were read, cited, reviewed, circulated, purchased, borrowed, and shared across platforms this year. And not just in the traditional outlets! One was made into a documentary, one celebrated a 50th anniversary, one was displayed in Times Square in New York, one was seen onscreen during FX’s The Lowdown, another was seen being read by Bowen Yang on the subway, and the list goes on…

While we’ve enjoyed some fun successes, this year has been difficult, too, and filled with changes and challenges for the industry. Humanities and higher education continue to be attacked. Budgets are being slashed, book programs are being dissolved. A beloved wholesaler closed its doors just two months ago.
Some difficulties were also felt on a personal level. Many of us experienced loss in a variety of ways. And as we remember those loved ones we also acknowledge our authors who have passed away this year. All these losses are felt deeply.
But as we look forward to a new year, we are fortunate to be able to continue the good work of the Press and market the stories that amplify authentic voices from around the globe and here at home. Whether that’s the true story of a former Southern Ute Indian Tribe chief judge or one Ukrainian women’s journey fleeing her homeland, the Press will champion books and authors who deserve to have their story shared.
I hope our readers continue to support us by buying our books, interviewing our authors, subscribing to our journals, and seeing the value in all that we do.
And hey, there’s still time to save 50% off with our holiday sale—the perfect way to support the Press and your bookshelf.
