Rosemary Sekora is publicity manager for UNP and desperately wants to see Mean Girls on Broadway.
Tomorrow another BookExpo begins in New York City! The University of Nebraska Press will be there to promote our newest trade titles. Visit booth 3062 to see what we’ve been publishing, register to win free books, and pick up Advanced Reader Copies of forthcoming Fall books.
We will also be using the show to celebrate a new book by Clayton C. Anderson, It’s a Question of Space: An Ordinary Astronaut’s Answers to Sometimes Extraordinary Questions (Nebraska, 2018).
For those of you who aren’t yet familiar with Clay, he is the only astronaut to come from the great state of Nebraska. He retired in 2013 after a thirty-year career with NASA and two missions to the International Space Station, during which he performed six spacewalks. He is also the author of The Ordinary Spaceman: From Boyhood Dreams to Astronaut (Nebraska, 2015) and A is for Astronaut: Blasting through the Alphabet (Sleeping Bear Press, 2018).
His newest book is a compendium of questions and answers about life in space. On NetGalley, readers have been enjoying his enthusiasm and easy-to-read answers for fascinating questions. (And some questions they didn’t know they wanted answered in the first place!)
Clay will be discussing his life as an astronaut-turned-author in room 1E10 on Thursday, May 31 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. He’ll be accompanied by Eric Boehm who is the Curator of Aviation and the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City. At 1:30 p.m., Clay will be signing ARCs of his new book at booth 3062. (He’ll then head over to booth 2864 to sign copies of A is for Astronaut.)
Another wonderful thing about BookExpo this year is the renewed focus and energy toward booksellers. Publishers Weekly reported that this year’s “reimagined BookExpo” will provide booksellers with tons of new opportunities to connect with authors, editors, and publishers based on feedback from prior shows.
One of these opportunities is the “Publicist In-Booth Meet-Ups” taking place on Friday, June 1 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. And yours truly will be at booth 3062 meeting with booksellers from across the country, helping them connect to our fantastic line-up of authors.
So stop by this week to check out our latest books, meet an astronaut, or plan some book events with UNP authors. See you soon!
