“22 July” details one of Norway’s deadliest days

“22 July,” a new movie premiering on Netflix and in select theaters on Oct. 10, details the attack that left 77 people dead in Oslo, Norway.

The film, directed by Paul Greengrass of “Captain Phillips” and “The Bourne Ultimatum” covers the 2011 attacks committed by militant nationalist extremist Anders Behring Breivik with a focus on the survivors’ journey to confront the terrorist at trial.

Massacre in Norway: The 2011 Terror Attacks on Oslo and the Utøya Youth Camp (Potomac Books, 2014) by Stian Bromark and translated by Hon Khiam Leong delves into the deadly incident, covering the bombing and shooting, hour by hour, spending considerable time detailing the psychological impact the incident had on many of the young, teenage survivors.

Vidar Kvalshaug in Aftenposten (Evening Post, Norway) said, “Stian Bromark’s writing touches us deeply and offers unique insights into the individuals’ thoughts, doubts, faith, and feelings of loss as they teeter between life and death.”
