Ring Lardner will be inducted into the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame tonight at the Newberry Library. Ron Rapoport, editor and compiler of The Lost Journalism of Ring Larder (Nebraska, 2017), will give the keynote speech, and James Lardner will accept the award on his grandfather’s behalf. Rapoport was a sports columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and the Los Angeles Daily News and is the author of numerous books about sports and show business. In 2016 he was awarded the Ring Lardner Award for Excellence in Sports Journalism.
Rapoport will give another speech about Lardner over the lunch hour today at Cliff Dwellers. Volumes Bookcafé will be on hand to sell copies of the book and he will happily sign copies of the book at the conclusion of his talk.
