Fred Luebke, founding director of the Center for Great Plain Studies at UNL and founding editor of Great Plains Quarterly, passed away on November 27, 2021 at the age of 94.
After earning his degree in 1968, he became a professor of history at the University of Nebraska, where he spent the rest of his professional career until retiring in 1994.


Among Luebke’s writing credits are Nebraska: An Illustrated History, Second Edition (Bison Books, 2005) and the editor of A Harmony of the Arts: The Nebraska State Capitol (Bison Books, 1993).
