Francis Moul, prolific journalist, instructor and book reviewer, passed away on March 4, 2023 at the age of 82.

Franics Moul had a long and varied career—his journalism work included articles in numerous Nebraska publications. He also penned hundreds of book reviews for the Lincoln Journal Star, Des Moines Register and Omaha World-Herald as well as other newspapers and magazines.

Deeply invested in environmental issues, Moul not only wrote extensively on the subject for various outlets, he was a charter founder, director, president and volunteer executive director for the Nebraska Wildlife Federation. Published in 2005, he was the author of the Bison Original, The National Grasslands: A Guide to America’s Undiscovered Treasures which won the 2007 Nebraska Book Award in nonfiction.
