A.M. Pate Award 2023

Union General (Potomac Books, 2023) by William L. Shea won the 2023 Pate Award. Given out annually, the A. M. Pate award recognizes the best books dealing with Trans-Mississippi Civil War research.

The Barbara Perkins and George Perkins Prize

Slow Narrative and Nonhuman Materialities (Nebraska, 2022) by Marco Caracciolo won the 2024 Barbara Perkins and George Perkins Prize. The prize is given to books that make the greatest contribution to narrative studies within the year.

2023 Laramie Book Awards

The Laramie Book Awards recognize emerging new talent and outstanding works in the Americana and Westerns fiction genre. The Laramie Book Awards is a division of the Chanticleer International Book Awards (The CIBAs).

Changing Woman (Bison Books, 2023) by Venetia Hobson Lewis has advanced to the semi-finals for Americana Fiction in the Laramie Book Awards. Winners will be announced April 20th.

Best Historical Materials: 2023

Salish and Kootenai Indian Chiefs Speak for Their People and Land, 1865-1909 (Nebraska, 2023) edited by Robert Bigart and Joseph McDonald was listed in American Library Association’s Best Historical Materials of 2023.

The ASALH Book Prize

The Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) awards an annual prize to recognize an outstanding book in the field of African American history and culture.

The First Migrants (Bison Books, 2023) by Richard Edwards and Jacob K. Friefeld is a finalist for the ASALH book prize. Winners will be announced February 20th.

73rd National Jewish Book Award

Who Are the Jews-And Who Can We Become? (JPS, 2023) by Donniel Hartman is a finalist in the Modern Jewish Thought and Experience category.

Let Our Bodies Change the Subject (Nebraska, 2023) by Jared Harél is a finalist in the Poetry category.

2024 National Book Critics Circle Awards

The Gathering of Bastards (Nebraska, 2023) by Romeo Oriogun is a finalist in the Poetry category. Winners will be announced March 21st.
