SABR49

The annual convention of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) begins today in San Diego and will last through the weekend. Open to all baseball fans, the meeting includes top featured speakers from around the baseball world—front office executives, players, managers, scouts, journalists, historians, and analysts—innovative panel discussions, groundbreaking research presentations, ballgames, the SABR Trivia Contest, the Awards Luncheon, and most of all, the opportunity to make and renew baseball friendships over the course of this exciting and memorable event.

Ron Rapoport jpgIlaBordersAmong this year’s featured speakers are several UNP authors. Ron Rapoport, editor of The Lost Journalism of Ring Lardner, will speak on the 1984 Padres Panel, 10:35-11:35 a.m., Thursday, June 27. Ila Borders, author of Making My Pitch, will be speaking later in the day on the Women in Baseball Panel, 2:00-3:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27. Her co-author Jean Ardell will moderate the panel.

UNP will be in the Vendors Room at the Manchester Grand Hyatt hotel in downtown San Diego. Our outstanding baseball books will be available for 40% off plus free shipping. We’re also excited to be hosting several authors at our booth to sign their latest books. Stop by and say hello!
