The Investigator, directed by Viktor Portel, is a Czech-Croatian co-production movie, produced by Frame Films, co-produced by Czech Television (Creative Production Group), Restart and Post Bellum. The feature documentary film is inspired by Vladimír Dzuro’s recent book, The Investigator: Demons of the Balkan War (Potomac Books, 2019). Viewers will embark on a tour of the sites Dzuro visited during his investigations in the former Yugoslavia and a meeting with surviving witnesses of ethnically motivated crimes. His book and the forthcoming film provide answers to the following questions: What does the Balkans look like today, where the conflict took place twenty-five years ago? What happened to the people who still live in those places today, what about their memory? And finally most importantly, did ‘Hague justice’ have any meaning and significance for those who went through the worst?
